19 November 2024 (Pasay City) – The National Amnesty Commission (NAC), led by Chairperson Leah Tanodra-Armamento, has successfully secured Senate approval for its proposed national budget for fiscal year (FY) 2025. This significant achievement reflects strong government support for the amnesty program of President Marcos, a cornerstone initiative aimed at fostering national reconciliation, peace, and unity.
The Senate’s approval was steered by Senate President Francis Joseph “Chiz” Escudero and championed by Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, who played a pivotal role in sponsoring the NAC’s budget proposal. Senator Dela Rosa emphasized the vital role of the amnesty program in advancing peace, reintegrating former rebels into society, and promoting national unity.
Chairperson Tanodra-Armamento expressed profound gratitude to the Senate for its unwavering support. She highlighted the amnesty program as a transformative tool in building bridges of understanding, healing divisions, and sustaining long-term peace across the nation.
This approved budget will empower the NAC to implement and expand the amnesty program, addressing the root causes of conflict and ensuring sustainable peace and reconciliation for all Filipinos.
