𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐦𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐮 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠

04 November 2024 (Maimbung, Sulu) — The Local Amnesty Board (LAB) in Sulu Province successfully held its first regular board meeting, attended by all incumbent members. Key attendees included LAB Chairperson, Mayor Shihla Tan-Hayudini, and Sangguniang Bayan Secretary Zizwenhar M. Jupli from the Maimbung Local Government Unit; Colonel Amadeo U. Cruz and Captain Omar M. Pamen from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP); Police Colonel Narciso C. Paragas and Police Lieutenant Colonel Benjamin Usman from the Philippine National Police (PNP); and Ustadz Arshaid Abdulmajid, a religious leader representing the Sulu Council for Peace and Development.

The meeting began with a review of administrative and program-related updates, particularly the status of newly received amnesty applications, which currently number 91. The LAB Secretariat outlined the board’s functions and detailed the amnesty application process to ensure clarity and adherence to protocol. During the discussion, board members identified challenges within the application process and suggested potential improvements to enhance efficiency.

Colonel Cruz expressed his appreciation for the Amnesty Program and proposed that the new commander of the Armed Forces’ 11th Infantry (Alakdan) Division consider establishing an Amnesty Intelligence Group to support LAB Sulu’s work. This initiative aims to streamline intelligence-gathering efforts relevant to amnesty applications and support overall program effectiveness.

A major agenda item was planning for upcoming hearings, conferences, and summary discussions to facilitate the fair and orderly processing of applications. As the meeting concluded, the board turned its focus to organizing future initiatives, including further conferences for amnesty applicants.

In her closing remarks, Chairperson Tan-Hayudini emphasized that every step of process should be productive, and should be careful in investigation and evaluation, we work together as one for peace ” (LAB Sulu).”
