17 October 2024 (Iloilo City) – The Local Amnesty Board (LAB) Secretariat in Iloilo City facilitated the processing of 7 additional amnesty applicants from the municipalities of Cabatuan, Janiuay, and Maasin, Iloilo. These applicants, who are members of KAPATIRAN, expressed their desire to avail of the government’s amnesty program through the Focal Person of LGU Janiuay, Ma. Jinkey Tañedo. Ms. Tañedo coordinated with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU), one of LAB’s partner agencies.

LAB Iloilo also conducted an orientation on the government’s amnesty program, explaining the process flow. In his closing remarks, OPAPRU Executive Director Cesar De Mesa stated, “[A]ng sabi ng Presidente walang maiiwan. What we are doing is transformation, kasi involved ang LGU para may sustainability. Kaya may nagre-rebelde kasi pinapabayaan ng gobyerno. Ngayon sinasama na natin sila sa plano para matutukan ng gobyerno. LGU yung magi-implement para makita doon sa bundok na hindi sila pinapabayaan ng gobyerno.”
Municipal Mayor Paulino Parian also attended the event, highlighting the importance of inter-agency cooperation to ensure the smooth implementation of the government’s amnesty program and related initiatives.
Also present were Sir Noel Alerta from the Special Project Team, Major Alvin Dela Cruz of the Philippine Army’s 821B, 3ID, and OPAPRU’s Dominique Monido.
