10 November 2024 (Davao City) – The Local Amnesty Board (LAB) Secretariat in Davao City, in collaboration with the Office of Member of Parliament (MP) Baileng S. Mantawil of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), along with Omar Bayao, a core member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) – Coordinating Committees on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCH), and Dennis Francisco, Chief of the Ad Hoc Joint Action Group (AHJAG) in the Davao Region, as well as MP Atty. Lanang Ali, Jr. of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), representing the Office of the Chief Minister – Peace, Security, and Reconciliation Office (OCM-PSRO), conducted two jail visits.

The primary purpose of the visits was to facilitate the amnesty applications of MILF members who are Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Regional Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) 11 facilities in Maa, Davao City, and the Digos City District Jail.

During the visits, Officer of the Day (OD) Jail Inspector Edwin Naidas of the Davao City Jail Male Dormitory, along with paralegals JO3 Marlon R. Amor and JO1 Ryan J. Demavivas, provided assistance to facilitate the application process. After a brief orientation on the amnesty program, PDL applicants completed their applications and took an oath administered by MP Ali. A similar session was held at the Digos City District Jail where the team was welcomed by Jail Inspector Renato L. Sedon, the Officer-in-Charge.

These jail visits mark significant steps in advancing the amnesty application process, ensuring that PDLs are informed and supported. MP Ali emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “Ang amnesty ay bahagi sa implementation of the peace agreement, na hanggang ngayon wala pang na-approved na amnesty from the MILFs na marami ng na decommission at kaliwaan nito ay ang pagbibigay amnesty.”
