04 December 2024 (Cotabato City) — The Local Amnesty Board (LAB) Secretariat in Cotabato City, in partnership with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU), recently participated in the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaign aimed at law enforcement agencies and grassroots communities.

The LAB Cotabato provided an in-depth orientation on the government’s amnesty program to members of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), including the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Mindanao, as well as to the mayors and designated representatives from the Local Government Units (LGUs) in the Special Geographic Area of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

LAB Cotabato’s engagement was crucial in delivering key updates on the Amnesty Program’s implementation, addressing concerns raised by participants from law enforcement agencies and local officials in BARMM. These updates are vital for aligning law enforcement efforts with the peace process and fostering cooperation through joint investigations and accountability.

The initiative aims to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and reinforce the collective commitment to achieving lasting peace in the Bangsamoro region.

The first leg of the IEC Campaign took place on November 21-22, 2024, at the PNP PRO 12 Headquarters in General Santos City, where the LAB Cotabato, along with the LAB Koronadal led by its Peace Program Officer, participated. The second leg was held at the Municipal Gymnasium in Brgy. Batulawan, Pikit, North Cotabato.
