17 July 2024 (Pasay City) – The National Amnesty Commission (NAC), headed by Chairperson Atty. Leah C. Tanodra-Armamento, held its 18th Regular Meeting at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC). Key topics discussed included updates on Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs) with various government agencies, such as the Department of National Defense (DND), the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP). The NAC aims to complete the signing of these MOAs within the month to facilitate a more streamlined processing of amnesty applications.

Captain Ferdinand C. Buscato (GSC) PN, the Acting Executive Director of Task Force Balik-Loob (TFBL), also attended the meeting. Colonel Buscato provided an overview of TFBL’s role in the government’s amnesty program and discussed potential areas of cooperation with the NAC.

As part of the meeting’s special agenda, the NAC adopted Resolution No. 07-2024, expressing condolences and deep sympathy over the passing of Commissioner Atty. Nasser A. Marohomsalic. The resolution was signed by the NAC’s Executive Committee and Commission en banc members, including Undersecretary Angelito De Leon of the DND and Assistant Secretary Majken Anika Gran-Ong of the DOJ, and was presented to the family of the late commissioner.
