07 August 2024 (Gamu, Isabela) – The National Amnesty Commission (NAC), led by its Chairperson Leah Tanodra-Armamento, paid a courtesy visit to Colonel Virgilio M. Noora, MNSA, PA, Captain Mark-Ian N. Balintec, JAGS, and Major Christopher John A. Dacayo at the 5th Infantry ‘Star’ Division camp, Philippine Army, located in Camp Melchor F. Dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela.
In addition to the scheduled courtesy visit to the Office of the Provincial Administrator in Isabela, the NAC team also accepted an invitation from the 5th Infantry βStarβ Division of the Philippine Army at Camp Melchor F. Dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela. The goal of this visit was to conduct an initial evaluation and address the concerns of the eight former rebels from this command who have expressed their intention to apply for the government’s amnesty program through the NAC. The NAC team engaged in discussions with the military officers to ensure a smooth and efficient process for the FRs’ amnesty applications.
Furthermore, the visit provided an opportunity to strengthen the collaboration between the NAC and the Philippine Army, emphasizing the importance of coordination in the implementation of the amnesty program. Chairperson Tanodra-Armamento also addressed the establishment and composition of the Local Amnesty Board, highlighting its role in facilitating the application process and ensuring that all necessary procedures are followed.
