13 June 2025 (Tacloban City) – The Local Amnesty Board (LAB) of Tacloban City successfully held its first case conference today at Tacloban City Hall, Kanhuraw Hill. The event focused on reviewing amnesty applications from 10 former CPP‑NPA‑NDF rebels, led by Local Amnesty Board Chair Hon. Alfred S. Romualdez, alongside members Police Brigade General Jay R. Cumigad, Major John L. Paner, Regional Prosecutor Irwin A. Maraya, Atty. Sharilee Angela G. Mauro, and Atty. Ivy Ann C. Carba.

The conference was conducted with care and respect, as each former rebel was given a chance to share their personal story, explain their past involvement, and discuss their current situation. This thorough process is essential to help the board determine whether each applicant qualifies for presidential amnesty under Proclamation No. 404.

This first case conference is a hopeful move toward healing and renewal. It ensures that every application is treated with dignity and fairness. Through Proclamation No. 404, former rebels who sincerely admit their past actions are given a real chance to start overβ€”cleaning their records, reclaiming their rights, and reconnecting with society.

For Tacloban City, this means stronger communities and deeper trust. For the former rebels, it’s a step toward new opportunities and brighter futures. Together, they are building a more peaceful and united Taclobanβ€”one story, one life, one community at a time.
