The activity aimed to inform and guide qualified former rebels on the amnesty application process, in line with the government’s continuing efforts toward peace, reconciliation, and reintegration of former combatants into mainstream society.

The orientation and intake activity were made possible through the initiative and invitation of Ms. Jennylyn Legazpi, Secretary of the SOCSARGEN Peace Advocates for Nation-Building and Development (SPAND)β€”a regional federation composed of provincial, municipal, and barangay-level FR and people’s organizations advocating for peace and nation-building.

They provided a comprehensive discussion on the eligibility requirements, documentary processes, and the rights and privileges granted under the National Amnesty Program. The team also conducted an onsite intake of applications, allowing eligible former rebels to submit their initial requirements and accomplish the necessary forms for amnesty consideration.

A total of 30 former rebels were successfully assisted and processed during the intake as applicants for amnesty.

The event was well-attended by identified former rebels from different barangays of Tantangan. Participants expressed their gratitude for the government’s unwavering commitment to peace and reconciliation, as well as for the opportunity to formally reintegrate into civilian life through the amnesty program.

This activity was also made possible through the presence and support of Atty. Ujell P. Grecia and Atty. Ryandel M. Alejandro from the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) – Surallah, who provided legal assistance and facilitated the subscription of the required documents for the amnesty applications.

The activity concluded with the reaffirmation of cooperation among the Local Government Unit of Tantangan, the NAC–LAB Koronadal, and SPAND in facilitating similar undertakings in other municipalities to reach more qualified applicants.
