25 February 2025 (Lamitan City, Basilan) β The National Amnesty Commission (NAC) proudly announces a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to facilitate peace and reconciliation. A total of 127 amnesty applications from former members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) were successfully received and processed in a single dayβthe highest intake recorded to date.
This achievement was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Local Amnesty Board (LAB) Basilan, with crucial support from LAB Sulu and LAB Pagadian. The NAC extends its deepest gratitude to all partners and stakeholders who contributed to this success including the Department of Justice, Integrated Bar of the Philippines-ZamBaSulTa Chapter, and the Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission, whose contributions have been instrumental in achieving our shared goals.
The NAC especially thank Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., Presidential Assistant Cesar Yano, Presidential Assistant David Diciano, Governor Jim Salliman, and MILF Panel Chair Mohagher Iqbal for their invaluable leadership and dedication in ensuring the seamless implementation of the amnesty program. Their preparatory work laid the foundation for this unprecedented turnout of applicants.
The NAC, together with its LABs, remains committed to its mandate of fostering peace and national unity by facilitating the reintegration of former combatants into mainstream society.
