𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐦𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐦𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐎𝐏𝐀𝐏𝐑𝐔’𝐬 𝐈𝐄𝐂 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐠𝐧
05 February 2025 (Lamitan City, Basilan) — The Local Amnesty Board (LAB) in Basilan participated in the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign on CAB Updates, Ceasefire Protocols, and Amnesty.
The activity, which aimed to deliver key updates on the amnesty process, served as a venue for the LAB to share the current status of Amnesty applications received by the office. The LAB also reiterated detailed information on the application process and requirements, and reinforced its call for members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to apply for Amnesty, highlighting its significant benefits.
The event brought together key peace stakeholders, including representatives from the Government of the Philippines (GPH) Peace Implementing Panels, the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), the GPH and MILF Ad Hoc Joint Action Group (AHJAG), and the GPH and MILF Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH). Also present were other agencies such as the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
All parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening partnerships and building mutual trust to support ongoing peacebuilding efforts. MILF leaders from various communities across Basilan were also in attendance and expressed their continued support for the peace process and the government’s Amnesty program.
