02 September (Kabacan, North Cotabato) – The National Amnesty Commission (NAC) participated in the commemoration of the 29th anniversary of the signing of the 1996 Final Peace Agreement between the Government and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) on September 2, 2025.
The celebration, held at the University of Southern Mindanao auditorium in Kabacan, North Cotabato, featured a Service Caravan for Peace and Development initiated by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU). The caravan aimed to deliver basic government services directly to MNLF communities and other stakeholders in the area.
The NAC team, led by Chairman Atty. Leah Tanodra-Armamento, Commissioners Atty. Jamar Kulayan and Atty. Ser-me Ayuyao, and attorneys from the central office, Atty. David Cansino, Atty. Charmaine Ann Valenzuela, and Atty. Jamalul Giducos, joined the activity.
During the event, the Local Amnesty Board Koronadal, led by Peace Program Officer III Mariannie B. Uy, facilitated the intake of amnesty applications. A total of 19 applicants were received, comprising 11 from the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and 8 from the CPP-NPA-NDF.
The success of the program was made possible through the collaboration of partner agencies, including:
– Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), represented by Atty. Kevin Napoles
– Public Attorney’s Office (PAO), represented by Atty. Noreen Napoles
– Attorneys from PAO Kabacan
This collective effort demonstrates the commitment to promoting peace, reconciliation, and development in the region.
