15 March 2024 (Zamboanga City) – The National Amnesty Commission, headed by Chairperson Leah C. Tanodra-Armamento, Commissioner Nasser A. Marohomsalic, and Jamar M. Kulayan, together with the Local Amnesty Board secretariat and members in Basilan convened to discuss their respective roles and responsibilities in the implementation of the Amnesty Program.

As the Presidential Proclamations concerning the grant of amnesty were already concurred by the Senate earlier this month, this activity was designed to familiarize the LAB members and secretariat with their crucial role in receiving and processing amnesty applications. The NAC Rules of Procedure, which outline the step-by-step process in applying for amnesty, was also covered.

This activity is part of the NAC’s commitment to the peacebuilding and reconciliation process of the government anchored on their mandates to strengthen and monitor Local Amnesty Boards established in nine (9) areas.

Present in this activity are key officials in Basilan, specifically Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, Police Provincial Director Carlos Madronio, City Prosecutor Cesar Bawasanta, IBP representative Atty. Alman Najar-Namla, Ustadz Abunnapis Abdulmajid, as well as other representatives such as Assistant Regional Prosecutor Bensaudi A. Yahiya, CPT John Lubguban PA, and Ms. Norhaiya Macusang.
