05 June 2025 (Munai, Lanao del Norte) – The Local Amnesty Board of Cagayan de Oro (LAB CDO) joins the last and final leg of the Information, Education & Communication (IEC) Campaign for Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) combatants in the Province of Lanao del Norte at Camp Bilal bin Rabbah in Sitio Kura-Kura, Tamparan, Munai on June 5, 2025.

The Amnesty Advocacy – spearheaded by the Department of the Interior & Local Government (DILG)- Lanao del Norte, the Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP), Pakigdait Inc., the Provincial Localized Normalization Implementation Committee (PLNIC), the Local Government of Lanao del Norte and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation & Unity (OPAPRU) – aims to reach out to combatants from the four (4) major MILF Base Commands in the province. Spanning a period of two (2) weeks, the campaign was brought to the municipalities of Munai, Tangcal and Baloi in a sincere effort to elucidate the important factors covered by the Amnesty Program under Executive Order (EO) 47.

Speaking before the assembly, Chairperson Anwar Alamada of the Ad Hoc Joint Action Group (AHJAG) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), stressed the pivotal role of Amnesty in the Confidence & Trust Building phase under the Normalization Track of the Bangsamoro Peace Process. He likewise showed his appreciation to the LAB and to all the agencies involved for the commitment and shared effort in making these activities a success.

The day was capped with a visit to the office of the Hon. MP Sultan Abdullah β€œBravo” Macapaar, who also expressed his hopes for a significant turnout of applicants to the Amnesty Caravan set for June 11, 2025, also in Camp Bilal. MP Macapaar mentioned his appreciation that some questions regarding the process are now further explained and clarified to the MILF.

Collaborative work is now under way in preparation for the June 11 One-Stop Caravan, which has been the primary objective of these IEC initiatives. This comes with the hope that a record number of MILF combatants will finally apply for amnesty, as we all work hand in hand in our renewed dreams for peace, freedom and reconciliation.
