29 May 2025 (Tangcal, Lanao Del Norte) โ The Local Amnesty Board of Cagayan de Oro (LAB CDO), together with the Department of the Interior & Local Government (DILG) Lanao del Norte, the Non-Violent Peaceforce (NP), Pakigdait Inc., the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation & Unity (OPAPRU), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) through the 5th Mechanized Battalion and the Philippine National Police (PNP) through the Lanao del Norte PPO, conducts the second leg of the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Advocacy for Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) combatants in the Municipality of Tangcal on May 29, 2025.
Tangcal is one of the interior municipalities of the Province of Lanao del Norte and was the site of an all-out war between government forces and the MILF in Year 2000. Peace has long since reigned in the municipality and government socio-economic services and infrastructure support is finally making its way to ease the lives and improve the livelihood of its residents.
Tangcal Vice Mayor, the Hon. Fatima Tomawis warmly welcomed the visit and expressed her appreciation that the caravan was brought to her municipality. Based on OPAPRU data, Tangcal has a record of around three hundred (300) MILF combatants.
During the event, combatants from the 125th Base Command expressed their willingness to avail of the amnesty program under Executive Order (EO) 47 of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Vice Mayor Tomawis likewise encouraged them to apply for amnesty regardless of whether they are decommissioned or not and even if they are uncertain of the cases filed against them.
