22 May 2025 (Iligan City) – The Local Amnesty Board of Cagayan de Oro (LAB CDO) acted as Resource Speakers to the MILF Enablers’ Orientation at the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade in Ma. Cristina, Iligan City on May 22, 2025.

Said activity was an offshoot of the Orientation-Workshop conducted on April 29-30, attended by representatives from the various base commands of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and other agency partners. During the event, specific guidelines and vital documentary requirements for amnesty applications were discussed in detail and viable courses of action for an effective intake activity were laid out.

The Orientation aims to equip the enablers, who come from both the MILF and civil society groups, with sufficient knowledge and understanding of the amnesty process so they can ably assist applicants during the One-Stop Shop Caravan planned in Camp Bilal bin Rabbah. A Planning activity followed the orientation where a concrete plan for the Amnesty Application Information & Education Campaign (IEC) was drawn up.

An IEC Campaign will be conducted in the different MILF Base Commands in Tagoloan, Tangcal, Munai and Tamparan in the Province of Lanao del Norte, prior to the the One-Stop Shop Amnesty Caravan.

Present during the event were Department of the Interior & Local Government (DILG) 10 Assistant Regional Director Yvette Tolentino-Sunga, Deputy Brigade Commander of the 2nd Mechanized Brigade Colonel Rolando Orengo, Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Lanao del Norte Member Hon. Sidick Dibaratun, Pakigdait Inc. Director Abelardo Moya, Field Coordinator of the Non-Violent Peaceforce Xarifa Lao-Sanguila, Technical Director of the OPAPRU Musa Sanguila, representatives from the DILG Lanao del Norte, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the MILF.

In her remarks, Asst. Regional Director Sunga stressed that β€œβ€¦.lasting peace starts when we enforce real inclusivity that no one is left behind; believing that there is dignity in second chances…”
