29 April, 2025 (Catbalogan City) -The Local Amnesty Board (LAB) in Catbalogan City recently conducted its 3rd case conference, reviewing 13 applications from individuals seeking amnesty. After a final face-to-face validation, 12 cases were submitted for resolution, while one was slated for further evaluation.
This brings the total number of cases recommended for indorsement to the National Amnesty Commission (NAC) Executive Committee and En Banc to 30, with 8 additional cases pending further evaluation.
The conference, held at the Samar Provincial Police Office Conference Room, saw full attendance from key officials, including Police Colonel Eric Antonieto Mendoza, Director of Samar Provincial Police Office, who was present throughout the proceedings. Ms. Golda Meir Tabao represented LAB Chairperson Governor Sharee Ann T. Tan, while Regional Prosecutor Atty. Irwin Maraya and Provincial Prosecutor Atty. Luz Lampasa represented the Department of Justice-National Prosecution Service (DOJ-NPS). Colonel Carmelito Pangatungan, 801st Brigade Deputy Brigade Commander, also attended.
The Public Attorney’s Office was represented by a team of lawyers, including Atty Lucie Antonette Lucero, Atty. Cyrine Calagos, Atty. Jeffrey Brent Lorenzo, and Atty. Mareja Ana Arellano, who facilitated the re-oathtaking of allegiance of applicants.
The LAB members reaffirmed their commitment to continuously conduct conferences to accommodate more applicants in the region. The board’s efforts aim to provide a pathway for eligible individuals to resolve their legal issues through the Amnesty Program.
