06 February 2025 β The Samar Provincial Police Office, led by Police Colonel Antonieto Eric A. Mendoza, facilitated a re-orientation on the governmentβs Amnesty Program with the Local Amnesty Board (LAB) in Catbalogan. The event drew participants from 24 Municipal Police Offices and 2 City Police Offices, both in-person and online.
Ms. Jazmine Odyssa B. Lutao of the LAB Catbalogan Secretariat, provided a comprehensive orientation on the Amnesty program as well as the National Amnesty Commissionβs Implementing Rules and Regulations and its Rules of Procedures.
This orientation served as a preparatory activity for the formal acceptance of applications, interviews, and assessments to ensure completeness of initial requirements. According to PD Mendoza, at least 190 potential Amnesty applicants under the custody of the Philippine National Police are expected to participate.
To facilitate the process, receiving units were tasked to prepare individual folders for initial review and schedule a mass application. The OPAPRU AMU EV with the SPT also disseminated information on the Local Peace Engagement and Transformation Program to ensure harmonization of data and submission of updated interventions from various agencies.
The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) provided a media coverage to further widen the dissemination of the Amnesty program for former rebels.
