23 July 2024 (Impasug-ong, Bukidnon) – In its continuous effort to extend the hand of peace to our kababayans who were involved in the armed struggle, the Local Amnesty Board (LAB) in Cagayan de Oro City, through its strong partnership with the 403rd “Peacemaker” Brigade of the 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division of the Philippine Army, visited the Headquarters of the 8th Infantry “Dependable” Battalion (IB). The LAB provided a brief orientation on the governmentโ€™s amnesty program and the processes involved in filing such applications.

24 “Friends Rescued” from the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) successfully filed their applications with assistance from Brigade officers, who ensured the necessary documents were secured for each applicant. All applicants are under the custody of the 8th IB, the 88th IB, and their main unit, the 403rd Brigade.

Also present during the activity were representatives from the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) of Bukidnon, headed by Atty. Voltaire Mojica and Atty. Charlon B. Dulay, who administered the oath to the applicants.

The NAC, through its LABs, remains very hopeful for the successful outcome of the governmentโ€™s amnesty program, given the encouraging reception from our countrymen who were involved in the armed struggle and who eagerly stand on the threshold of new and better lives. The support of other government stakeholders is also a crucial factor in the success of this entire endeavor.
