24 September 2024 (Cagayan de Oro City) – The Local Amnesty Board (LAB) in Cagayan de Oro attended the Regional Intelligence Committee for Region 10 (RIC-10) Conference at the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency 10 (NICA 10) Headquarters.
During the event, the LAB Secretariat provided the intelligence community with updates on the number of amnesty applications received and their current status in the amnesty process. The Secretariat also discussed the challenges it faces in information dissemination campaigns, security concerns, the vetting process, and the strict implementation of the National Amnesty Commission’s (NAC) Rules of Procedure. It was emphasized that there is a pressing need to strengthen collaboration with partner agencies to increase the number of applications, as the current figures are significantly lower than expected, considering the overall number of Former Rebels (FRs) and ex-combatants eligible for amnesty in Regions 10 and 13.
With the amnesty program approaching its first year of implementation, active partnerships and coordination with other government agencies have proven to be crucial in ensuring the success of the countryโs peace and reintegration initiatives.
