11 September 2024 (Bacolod City) – The Local Amnesty Board (LAB) in Bacolod City made a courtesy visit to Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica at the Bacolod City Police Office. The purpose of the visit was to clarify and discuss the role of the Philippine National Police (PNP) as one of the LAB members, aiming to strengthen and acknowledge the important part law enforcement plays in ensuring public safety and order when dealing with amnesty applicants.
During the visit, Police Colonel Coronica expressed his support for the mission of the National Amnesty Commission to help Former Rebels (FRs) reintegrate into their communities and regain their civil rights. He also assured his commitment to ensuring the safety of all involved.
The LAB secretariats shared some of the challenges they face, such as resource constraints, and emphasized the importance of peace, reconciliation, and cooperation between law enforcement and FRs in fostering a peaceful community.
