11 December 2025 (Palo, Leyte) – The Local Amnesty Board (LAB) of Catbalogan, Samar, conducted a comprehensive orientation on the government’s Amnesty Program for personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Regional Office VIII (BJMPRO-VIII), under the leadership of JSSUPT Rill F. Sonon, DSC, JD, Regional Director of the Jail Bureau.

The primary objective of the activity was to officially deputize BJMP personnel as key information multipliers. The orientation equipped them with accurate and relevant information on the amnesty program, enabling them to effectively disseminate its details to persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) under their custody, particularly those with cases related or connected to insurgent activities.

By enhancing the awareness and capacity of BJMP personnel, the initiative ensures that eligible individuals are properly informed of their opportunity to apply for amnesty and return to the fold of the law. This collaborative effort underscores the shared commitment of the LAB and the BJMP to promoting peace and justice.
