08 October 2025 (Lope De Vega, Northern Samar) – The Local Amnesty Board (LAB) of Catbalogan, Samar, in collaboration with the 43rd Infantry “We Search” Battalion, held an orientation and intake session for 19 friends rescued (FRs) in Barangay Magsaysay, Lope De Vega, Northern Samar. Major Rex M. Payot, the Executive Officer, and 2LT Mariel Andrea Marcos demonstrated their commitment to the FRs, ensuring they could clear their names and reintegrate into society.
Jazmine Odyssa Lutao, LAB Catbalogan’s Peace Program Officer III, acknowledged the presence of Atty. Marian Domingo-Singh, a representative from the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO). Ms. Lutao underscored the importance of having a PAO lawyer notarize the application forms and oaths of allegiance free of charge. She then detailed the government’s Amnesty Program, while Legal Officer Atty. Gelyn Diaz-Omanito explained the specific crimes covered and those that were not.
All FRs in attendance chose to apply for amnesty, taking their oath before Atty. Domingo-Singh. Battalion Commander LTC Jason P. Que ensured that the FRs fully understood the oath.
The orientation and intake session coincided with a quarterly social event, and LAB Catbalogan joined the 43rd IB for a boodle fight, demonstrating camaraderie and teamwork between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the LAB.
