08 October, 2025 (Mahaplag, Leyte) β The National Amnesty Commission (NAC), through the Local Amnesty Board (LAB) of Tacloban City, successfully conducted an Amnesty Orientation and Applicant Intake for former mass supporters at the 14th Infantry Battalion Headquarters in Barangay Uguis, Mahaplag, Leyte.
The activity aimed to guide qualified individuals through the amnesty application process and to raise awareness about the objectives of the National Amnesty Program, particularly its focus on peacebuilding and reintegration.
The event was led by the LAB Secretariat under the leadership of Ms. Bhea Janine F. Gozo, with legal assistance provided by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (Atty. Mary Rose A. Tisado-Irlandez, Atty. Alberto R. Ada Jr., and Atty. Ma. Jannel Urian), the Public Attorneyβs Office (Atty. Myra Bell L. Laure, Atty. Decyrose P. Papa, and Atty. Michael Jude E. Sablan), and the City Legal Office of Tacloban City (Atty. Rochelle T. Caliste).
Maj. Darwin C. Cajada, speaking on behalf of LTC Esmeraldo L. Sumalinog, INF (GSC) PA, Acting Battalion Commander of the 14th Infantry Battalion, delivered a message of support, affirming the Philippine Armyβs commitment to the governmentβs peace and reintegration efforts. The 14th Infantry Battalion also provided logistical and administrative assistance, contributing to the smooth and secure conduct of the activity.
A total of 30 individuals attended the orientation, with 22 successfully submitting their applications for amnesty.
This activity reflects the continued commitment of the Local Amnesty Board of Tacloban City to the goals of the National Amnesty Programβpromoting peace, justice, and reintegration, while fostering unity, reconciliation, and sustainable development in communities formerly affected by armed conflict.
