19 September, 2025 (Quirino, Ilocos Sur) β The Local Amnesty Board (LAB) La Union successfully concluded an orientation and amnesty application intake held at Patungcaleo, Quirino, Ilocos Sur. The activity was organized by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unityβs (OPAPRU) Peopleβs Organization.
This initiative was made possible through the strong coordination with the Local Government Unit of Quirino, headed by Municipal Mayor Atty. Jemarose Gomintong, the Quirino Municipal Police Office, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
A total of nine (9) individuals applied for amnesty during the event, marking another important step toward their reintegration into mainstream society. The LAB emphasized its commitment to assist more local applicants in availing of the governmentβs amnesty program.
This undertaking forms part of the national peace and reconciliation efforts, providing former rebels and returnees, often referred to as βfriends rescuedβ, a clear and lawful pathway to return to civilian life and contribute positively to their communities.
The event was carried out in an orderly and peaceful manner, reflecting the dedication of all stakeholders in supporting the peace process and fostering lasting unity in the region.
