28 August, 2025 (Palo, Leyte) β The Legal Affairs Bureau (LAB) Secretariat, with the assistance of Atty. Rochelle Caliste, Legal Consultant from the City Legal Office, conducted a courtesy visit to Jail Senior Superintendent Rill F. Sonon, Regional Director of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Regional Office VIII, on August 28, 2025, at the BJMP Regional Headquarters in Palo, Leyte.
The LAB Secretariat was represented by Peace Program Officer III Bianca Janel and Peace Program Officer II Marinel Bella. During the visit, the team provided an overview of the Amnesty Program, including its objectives, legal framework, eligibility requirements, and implementation procedures. This initiative forms part of LABβs ongoing efforts to enhance agency collaboration and ensure the smooth rollout of the Amnesty Program across regions.
With the technical guidance of Atty. Caliste, the team was also able to address legal queries and clarify operational concerns raised during the discussion. The orientation served to promote a shared understanding of the program among BJMP personnel and to strengthen institutional coordination in support of its goals.
Director Sonon warmly welcomed the initiative and expressed BJMP Region VIIIβs commitment to supporting the Amnesty Program and facilitating its successful implementation at the regional level.
This collaborative effort reflects the LAB Secretariatβs dedication to inclusive, transparent, and well-coordinated program implementation in pursuit of lasting peace and justice.
