A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed this morning, 22 July 2024, at the IBP Building, 4th Floor, JBL Hall, between the National Amnesty Commission (NAC) and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP). The agreement aims to institute collaborative efforts to support the government’s amnesty program and to develop and facilitate cooperative activities between the NAC and the IBP in achieving their common mandates and advocacy.

NAC Chairperson Leah C. Tanodra-Armamento, along with Commissioner Jamar M. Kulayan and Atty. Baisha A. Dipatuan, executed the MOA with Atty. Antonio C. Pido, the IBP National President and Chairperson of the 26th Board of Governors; Atty. Marcelino Michael I. Atanante IV, the National Director for Legal Aid; and Atty. Myline J. Urmenita-Palisoc, the Overall Deputy Director for Legal Aid. This agreement aims to facilitate the collaborative efforts between the NAC and the IBP, enabling the latter to assist the NAC in providing free legal aid to amnesty applicants. This aid includes administering oaths, drafting special powers of attorney, affidavits, and other related documents necessary for the filing and processing of amnesty applications.

Also present at the event were Jose Perpetuo M. Lotilla, the IBP National Executive Director; Atty. Doroteo B. Aguila, the IBP National Secretary; Atty. Patrick M. Velez, the IBP National Director for Operations; Atty. Rizal Thaddeus Acas, the NAC Acting Director of the Legal and Amnesty Operations Office; and other NAC officers.
