The Local Amnesty Board (LAB) in Bacolod City and Cagayan de Oro participated in a highly productive Zoom meeting spearheaded by the 303rd Infantry (Brown Eagle) Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Philippine Army in Camp Major Gerona, Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental on 11 December 2024. The meeting was to facilitate the reintegration of former rebels into society by addressing ideological beliefs, building skills for peaceful coexistence, and promoting social and economic stability.
The LAB Cagayan de Oro, represented by Atty. Moreen Daba and Ms. Abigail Lai, serves as resourse persons. Atty. Daba conducted a brief overview of the governments amnesty program. Likewise, the discussion centered on the role of the amnesty programs in promoting reconciliation, justice, and social healing, particularly in post-conflict or post-crisis settings.
Ms. Lai shared insights into the benefits of such programs—how they can help reduce ongoing conflict, restore peace in post-conflict societies, and promote social reintegration.
In conclusion, the former rebels asked clarificatory questions regarding the matter which was discussed by the resource persons.
