The Local Amnesty Board (LAB) of Catbalogan, Samar, partnered with the 52nd Infantry “Agila” Battalion to conduct an orientation and intake session for 39 “Friends Rescued” (FRs) at their headquarters in Barangay Gap-ang. Led by Colonel Sandy U. SereΓ±o, the session provided a detailed walkthrough of the amnesty application process and clarified the specific crimes covered by the program. Officials also emphasized the importance of the upcoming March 13, 2026, deadline for former members of the CPP-NPA-NDF to submit their applications to the Office of the President.

To formalize their reintegration, all 39 participants took their Oath of Allegiance before lawyers from the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO), who ensured each individual fully understood the weight of their commitment. This collaborative effort was further supported by the Special Project Team from the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU). The initiative marks a significant step forward in the local peace process, providing FRs with a clear, legal path toward a new beginning.
