27 February, 2026 (Kananga, Leyte) – The Local Amnesty Board (LAB) Tacloban successfully conducted an Amnesty Orientation and Application Intake activity in Kananga, Leyte, resulting in the official filing of applications by 27 Friends Rescued (FRs). This initiative serves as a vital component of the government’s peace and reconciliation framework, providing former rebels with the necessary information and legal support to transition toward a productive civilian life.

The activity was characterized by a robust inter-agency collaboration, ensuring a streamlined and supportive environment for all applicants. Logistics and operational support were provided by the 93rd Infantry Battalion, the 802nd Infantry Brigade, and the Philippine National Police, while the Public Attorney’s Office – Ormoc rendered essential legal assistance. Furthermore, the City Government of Tacloban, the LGU of Kananga, and Uswag Sinirangan Bisayas Inc. contributed significantly through the provision of venues, meals, and administrative aid.
