As the first quarter of the year comes to a closeβ€”coinciding with the deadline for filing amnesty applications for all covered groupsβ€”the National Amnesty Commission (NAC) reports that an additional four (4) individuals have been granted amnesty, as approved by His Excellency President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. on 31 March 2026. This brings the total number of amnesty grantees to twenty (20)β€”nineteen (19) of whom are former members of the Communist Party of the Philippines–New Peoples Army–National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF), and one (1) a member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). The grant of amnesty provides these individuals the opportunity to reintegrate into mainstream society and begin anew, reflecting the national government’s firm commitment to lasting peace and reconciliation.

This development underscores the government’s sustained efforts to promote inclusive peace by encouraging former and current members of groups covered under Proclamations 403–406 to return to the fold of the law. It further highlights the administration’s continuing initiatives to address the root causes of armed conflict while extending support to those who have chosen to lay down their arms and rebuild their lives as productive members of society, with fully restored civil and political rights.

The NAC is currently working to expedite the review of the more than 16,000 applications received and, in the process, enable more cases to be endorsed to the President for evaluation and approval.
