10 April, 2026 (Davao City, Davao del Sur) β€” The Local Amnesty Board of Davao (LAB Davao) convened its 8th Conference on Friday, 10 April 2026, at 1:00 PM in the Paglaum Conference Room, Headquarters of the 1003rd Brigade, 10th Infantry Division, Barangay Malagos, Davao City.
In attendance were the primary members of LAB Davao: Regional Prosecutor for Region XI and LAB Davao Chairperson, Atty. Janet Grace B. Dalisay-Fabrero of the Department of Justice; Integrated Bar of the Philippines – Davao City Chapter President and LAB Davao Vice Chairperson, Atty. Ferdinand M. Taglucop; and Brigade Commander Brigadier General Christopher M. Diaz, of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
The conference followed an earlier agreement made during the seventh LAB Conference and Christmas fellowship, where members resolved to take turns hosting future meetings in their respective offices. Brig. Gen. Diaz initiated this arrangement and graciously hosted the eighth conference at the 1003rd Brigade headquarters. The venue was thoughtfully prepared, with a generous spread of meals and refreshments arranged across the conference roomβ€”reflecting the host unit’s diligence, organization, and full support for the Board’s work.
Substantively, the conference proved as productive as it was well-organized. A total of twenty amnesty applications were carefully deliberated upon. Beyond case discussions, members exchanged insights and explored measures to further streamline to expedite the processing of applications, particularly those without known pending cases. The Board also addressed updates on the status of certain members and arrived at corresponding decisions.
During the proceedings, Atty. Taglucop proposed that the oath-taking ceremony for new members of the Board be held at the IBP Davao City office, which he will host. He likewise confirmed that the IBP Davao City Chapter will host the 9th LAB Conference. Adding to the significance of the gathering, the Board was joined during the closing program by an unexpected guest, Brigadier General Marces T. Gayat, Commander of the Civil-Military Operations Regiment (CMOR), Philippine Army, who was then on an official visit to the 1003rd Infantry Brigade headquarters.
From the outside, the eighth LAB conference seems quite a lavish endeavor. What with the buffet-style lunch, pica-pica station of decadent ‘kakanin’ and fruits, and fountains of coffee and tea. The LAB Davao indeed felt the overwhelming generosity, and what struck us in a big way was an austere but powerful realization: the significance and impact of having immensely supportive and generous LAB Members who will go out of their way to contribute.
In the grand scheme of things, the food and the venue are only basic parts of the conference equation, but these basic resources have their humble ways of moving a conference forward. Not only do they sustain the LAB Davao’s nourishment and enthusiasm during conferences, but their effects transcend long after the conferences are done. Basic things such as these help preserve the LAB’s integrity, strength, and unity in the name of service and of the National Amnesty Commission’s ten thousand second chances.
