26 February, 2026 (Butuan City, Agusan del Norte) – The Local Amnesty Board of Butuan City (LAB Butuan) recently processed 218 amnesty applications across the Caraga Region, marking a significant step in the governmentβs reintegration efforts for “Friends Rescued” (FRs). These coordinated activities, held throughout February 2026, underscore a multi-agency commitment to national reconciliation and peace.
The series began on 12 February in Agusan del Norte, where 52 FRs applied following a dialogue at the Kagawasan143 Peace Center. This was followed by a two-day mission in Tandag City from February 19 to 20, which secured 54 applications in collaboration with the Hamugaway Peace Center and various security units. Between February 23 and 25, a three-day program across Agusan del Surβcovering the 401st Brigade, the 26th IB, and the 8th Special Forces Companyβresulted in an additional 99 applications. Finally, on February 26, LAB Butuan processed 13 walk-in applicants that surrendered through the RID PRO13 at the Provincial Legal Office of Agusan del Norte.
By partnering with local government units, the Philippine Army, and the PNP, LAB remains dedicated to accelerating the amnesty process. These initiatives provide a vital pathway for former rebels to transition into mainstream society and contribute positively to their communities.
