12 February, 2026 (Catubig, Northern Samar) β The Local Amnesty Board (LAB) of Catbalogan, Samar, conducted an orientation and intake session for 36 βfriends rescuedβ (FRs) at the 19th Infantry “Commando” Battalion headquarters in Barangay Opong.
The event was attended by key stakeholders, including Police Lieutenant Arturo B Viva Jr., Deputy Chief of Police of the Catubig Municipal Police Station; representatives from the Public Attorney Office (PAO); and Lieutenant Colonel Roger Gobway, Commanding Officer of the 19th Infantry Battalion.
During the orientation, the LAB Secretariat explained the governmentβs amnesty program, detailing the process from the initial application to its final submission to the Office of the President. The team also clarified which specific crimes are covered under the program and which are excluded.
The session concluded with the FRs taking their oath of allegiance before PAO lawyers Atty. Mae Lisette EspiΕa, Atty. Mikhael O. Santos, and Atty. Ferminlino C. Ultra, who ensured that all participants fully understood the commitment they were making.
